Description
Winter variety selected by the Southern Ural Research Institute of Fruit and Vegetable Growing and Potato Growing. Obtained by crossing a complex hybrid (Ural Winter x 11-20-12) with the Weeping Vydyubetskaya. Authors: M. A. Mazunin, N. F. Mazunina, V. I. Putyatyn. Approved since 2002.
Tree — a natural dwarf with a flat-round crown. Height on seedling rootstocks up to 2.7 m, on vegetatively propagated clone rootstocks up to 1.5–2.0 m. Bark on trunk and main branches dark brown. Fruit-bearing on all types of fruit wood and on last year's shoots.
Shoots greenish-brown, thin. Leaves large, elongated-round, dark green, slightly hairy, margins with large rounded teeth.
Fruits (see illustration) medium-sized, elongated-round, with noticeable ribbing and characteristic side seam. Fruit skin smooth, dry, shiny, greenish-yellow, with red blush over most of the fruit. Fruit stem medium length, thick, upright.
Fruit flesh white, slightly juicy, coarse-grained, tart-sweet, excellent taste.
Fruits contain 14.1% soluble dry matter, 10.2% sugars, 0.4% titratable acids, 18.8 mg/100g ascorbic acid, and 1.5% pectin substances (on fresh weight).
Storage life 140 days.
Fruits suitable for fresh consumption and processing: compotes, jams, preserves.
Best pollinators are varieties Chudnoe, Sokolovskoe, Prizemlennoe, Podsnegovik.
Trees begin fruiting 3–4 years after grafting. Fruit-bearing is regular. Yield up to 120 kg per tree. Cold resistance is high. During epidemics, affected by scab up to 2 points.
Advantages of the variety: natural dwarf, high yield, high taste and market quality of fruits.
Disadvantages of the variety: fruit quality decreases under prolonged high summer temperatures and dry air.
Variety used in selection of naturally low-growing apple varieties.
