Description
Autumn variety selected by the South-Urals Scientific Research Institute of Fruit and Vegetable Growing and Potato Growing, obtained by crossing a complex hybrid (1-63-197) with the Yudubetsky Weeping. Widely distributed and approved in the Ural region. Breeders: M. A. Mazunin, N. F. Mazunina, V. I. Putyatyn.
Tree is a natural dwarf with a flat-round crown. Height of trees on seedling rootstocks up to 2.5 m, on vegetatively propagated clone rootstocks up to 1.5-2.0 m. Bark on the trunk and main branches is brown. Fruit set on all types of fruit wood and on last year's growths.
Shoots are greenish-brown, medium thickness. Leaves are large, elongated-oval, boat-shaped, slightly hairy, leaf margins finely toothed.
Fruits are medium-small, round. Fruit skin is smooth, oily, shiny, greenish-yellow with dark-red blush on most of the fruit. Peduncle is medium length and thickness, oblique.
Fruit flesh is greenish, firm, juicy, fine-grained, tart-sweet, good taste.
Fruits contain 14.6% soluble solids, 10.4% sugars, 0.7% titratable acids, 18.9 mg/100 g ascorbic acid, and 1.3% pectin substances (on fresh weight).
Storage life up to 60 days. Variety suitable for fresh consumption and processing: compotes, jams, preserves.
Best pollinators are varieties Bratchud, Chudnoe, Autumn Low-growing, Krovnoe.
Trees begin fruiting on the 2nd-3rd year after grafting. Fruit set is regular. Yield up to 130 kg per tree. Cold resistance of the variety is high. During epidemic years, it is affected by scab up to 2 points.
Advantages of the variety: natural dwarf, high yield, cold resistance, very short growing period (155-160 days), early fruiting.
Disadvantages of the variety: insufficient fruit size, in some years darkening of fruit flesh during storage.
Variety used in selection of naturally low-growing apple varieties.
