Description
Early-autumn variety developed by Saratov State Agrarian University named after V. I. Vavilov and Saratov Experimental Garden Station, selected from hybrid offspring of the cross: Welles x Renet Volzhskiy. Breeders: G. V. Kondratyeva, I. K. Fomina. The variety undergoes state variety testing (since 1995) in 6 and 8 regions of Russia. Regarding ripening time, it is close to Anis, but significantly surpasses it in fruit size.
Medium-sized tree with a rounded, moderately dense crown. Bears fruit on spurs, young branches, fruiting shoots, and terminal tips of growth shoots.
Shoots of medium thickness, straight, round, brown, with few large lenticels. Buds medium-sized. Leaves large, egg-shaped, dark green.
Flowers medium-sized, small cup-shaped, white, fragrant. Petals egg-shaped, stamens medium-sized, stigma fused to half the length, stigma at the level of the anthers.
Fruits large (average weight 180 g, maximum 250-300 g), medium uniformity, round, sometimes slightly conical, with smooth surface.
Fruits when harvested have greenish coloration, with a covering of maroon stripes and mottled patches across the entire fruit. At consumer ripeness, the color becomes more vibrant. Few subcutaneous dots. Pedicel medium-sized, straight. Calyx medium depth and width, no rusting. Receptacle closed, saucer medium depth and width. Core large, bulbous. Chambers open, large.
Flesh tender, juicy, with a slightly acidic-sweet flavor and medium aroma.
Early-bearing variety.
Tree begins fruiting on the 4th-5th year after planting in a garden. Annual fruiting.
During the winters of 1978/79 and 1988/89, when minimum temperatures dropped to -35° C, trees suffered no damage. The variety is resistant to scab and powdery mildew. No signs of scab or powdery mildew were observed during years of maximum fungal development (1992, 1993, 1994, 2000).
Advantages of the variety: high winter hardiness, early fruiting, fruit marketability, resistance to fungal diseases.
