PRIOKSKOE

The 'Priokskoe' apple variety is a winter columnar type, developed through open-pollination between the SR0523 and Vazhak varieties. The trees have a medium-sized columnar form with a compact, upward-pointing crown, making them ideal for super-intensive orchards and private gardens. The bark on main branches is brown, shoots are thick and angular, and leaves are of medium size with a green hue and characteristic wrinkling. The flowers are pink, of medium size, and odorless. The variety is distinguished by good winter hardiness and resistance to scab, which significantly eases care and reduces the need for treatments. 'Priokskoe' fruits have an average weight of about 150 grams, a flattened conical shape with wide ribbing and a slanted form. The skin is smooth and glossy; the primary fruit color at harvest maturity is green, and at consumer maturity it acquires a greenish-yellow hue with a blurred dark red and raspberry blush. The flesh is greenish, of medium density, finely granular, very juicy, with a sweet-and-sour taste and a faint aroma. The fruits possess high commercial and consumer qualities, as well as a long storage life, allowing them to remain fresh until February when stored in a refrigerator. The 'Priokskoe' variety is characterized by high yield, entering fruit production already in the third year after planting. Average yield on dwarf rootstocks reaches 54.6 tons per hectare. Despite the underdeveloped root system and relatively short active lifespan of the tree, the variety is resistant to low temperatures and sharp fluctuations, as well as showing resistance to fungal diseases, including scab. Thanks to these qualities and the attractive appearance of the fruits, the 'Priokskoe' apple tree is recommended for both commercial intensive orchards and growing in northern regions, including the Urals, the Central Black Earth Region of Russia, and Siberia.
