Description
The AMURETS spring barley variety is a medium-early grain-fodder barley with a growing period ranging from 61 to 77 days depending on the region of cultivation. The plant is medium-height, with semi-erect or erect culms, resistant to lodging. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 41 to 55 grams; the grain is large, with an un-hairy venter groove and embracing lodicules. The ear may be cylindrical or pyramidal, of medium density or loose, with a waxy bloom of varying intensity. Awns are long, serrated, with strong anthocyanin pigmentation at the tips, which is a characteristic feature of the variety.
AMURETS is distinguished by its high drought tolerance and is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Far Eastern region (Amur Oblast, Primorsky and Khabarovsk Krai) and the West Siberian region (Kemerovo and Novosibirsk regions). The average yield of the variety ranges from 27.3 to 36.8 centners per hectare, with maximum indicators reaching up to 61.2 centners per hectare. Protein content in the grain reaches 13.5-15.1%, making it valuable for grain-fodder use.
The variety has moderate resistance to certain diseases such as powdery and stone smut, as well as brown and stem rust. However, it is highly susceptible to helminthosporiosis, root rots, and net blotch, which requires attention in agro-technical measures. Overall, AMURETS is a promising spring barley variety with good agronomic characteristics and adapted to the conditions of various regions of Russia.
