Description
The Emelya spring barley variety is a smooth-awned six-row variety belonging to the riptense group. It is distinguished by high grain and green mass yield, as confirmed by research conducted in Eastern Siberia and the Krasnoyarsk forest-steppe. Compared to the Sobolek variety, Emelya shows an advantage in grain yield by 1.24 t/ha, green mass by 2.9 t/ha, and dry matter by 0.78 t/ha, along with higher leaf area of plants, which contributes to better crop development and productivity.
Research also showed that the Emelya variety is well-suited for mixed sowing with legume crops, such as peas, which allows increasing green mass yield by 19-53 %. The maximum green mass yield of the Emelya variety reached 22.6 t/ha at a sowing rate of 5.0 million viable seeds per hectare. Additionally, the variety demonstrates high efficiency in two-cut utilization, forming a second grain crop with an indicator of up to 5.05 t/ha, making it promising for intensive farming technologies.
The Emelya variety is also characterized by salt stress tolerance, as confirmed by studies including barley assessment for chloride salinity. Salt tolerance contributes to maintaining the ability of seeds to germinate and forming seedling biomass under complex soil and climatic conditions. This quality expands the application possibilities of the variety in various regions with unfavorable soil salinization conditions, ensuring crop stability and production reliability.
