Description
Spring barley variety 'GRIS' is a mid-early grain-forage variety created by intraspecific hybridization followed by individual selection. The plant features a semi-erect medium-height bush (82-87 cm), a two-row cylindrical ear 7-9 cm long with medium density. The grain is large, with 1000-seed weight ranging from 43-52 g. The growing period is 74-89 days, allowing it to mature 1-2 days earlier than standards Vicount and Prianzovskiy 9, and 2-4 days later than the Strannik variety.
The 'GRIS' variety is distinguished by high drought resistance due to a powerful two-tier root system and good tolerance to return frosts. It is moderately resistant to covered and powdery smut, but susceptible to striped blotch. Lodging resistance exceeds the Prianzovskiy 9 standard, ensuring yield stability under unfavorable conditions. Protein content in the grain varies from 11.4% to 14.1%, making it suitable for both grain-forage and food use.
The variety is recommended for cultivation in the North Caucasus region, including the Northeastern and Prianzovskiy zones of the Rostov region. Average yield in the region reaches 25.5 c/ha, while under favorable conditions it can exceed 50 c/ha, with maximum indicators up to 69 c/ha. Seeds of the 'GRIS' variety meet Russian and international quality standards, confirmed by a full package of documents ensuring the reliability and effectiveness of using this variety in agriculture.
