Description
KONDRAT is a variety of winter barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) belonging to grain-forage crops. It is characterized by mid-maturity and winter hardiness, which allows for successful cultivation in the North Caucasus region. The plants are medium-height, ranging from 75 to 100 cm, with a hexagonal ear of medium length and density, which is non-labile and straw-yellow in color. The grain is semi-long, medium-sized, with a 1000-grain mass varying from 29 to 55 g, and protein content in the grain ranging from 9 to 12.4%. Grain brittleness is within the range of 7-9.5%.
The KONDRAT variety is resistant to lodging and shattering, has high frost resistance and drought tolerance, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in variable climate conditions. It shows medium susceptibility to powdery mildew, septoria, powdery and loose smut, brown and dwarf rusts, as well as medium resistance to helminthosporiosis. The ear has serrated awned elements, which turn yellow at maturity and acquire an anthocyanin color after cutting.
The yield of the KONDRAT variety is high and exceeds the indicators of the parent variety Dobrynya-3 by approximately 8 centners per hectare, reaching an average of 100 centners of grain per hectare. The ear is characterized by medium density and strength, which contributes to harvest preservation. The variety is sensitive to increased soil acidity, which should be taken into account when choosing a planting site. Thanks to its characteristics and adaptation to climatic conditions, KONDRAT is a promising variety for grain-forage production.
