Description
KRASNOYARUZHSKIY 6 — a mid-early spring barley variety intended for grain and fodder use. The plant is characterized by medium height and high resistance to lodging, which ensures crop stability. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 46 to 55 grams, while the average yield reaches 21.8 centners per hectare. The grain contains a high protein level — from 13.8 to 14.1%, as well as a significant amount of lysine (354 mg per 100 g) and starch (53%), making it valuable for both feed and food purposes.
The variety is distinguished by a cylindrical, long, and loose ear of straw-yellow color, while the grain has a semi-elongated shape and large size. The vegetative period is from 65 to 85 days, which allows the use of the variety in various climatic conditions, including the West Siberian, East Siberian, and North Caucasus regions of Russia. Drought resistance of the variety is assessed as moderate, while resistance to powdery mildew is moderate.
KRASNOYARUZHSKIY 6 is widely used for processing into cereals, however, the majority of the yield is used for fodder purposes. The potential yield of the variety can exceed 60 centners per hectare under optimal cultivation conditions. Thanks to its quality characteristics and adaptability, the variety is a valuable material for further breeding and hybridization in various regions of Russia.
