Description
Spring barley KWS Dante is a medium-maturing variety with a vegetation period of 88 to 95 days and plant height of 50 to 72 cm. This variety is characterized by stable high yield, which in some regions exceeds standard indicators by 8%. Thousand-grain weight varies from 40.8 to 48.3 grams, and protein content ranges from 11.3 to 14%, making it a valuable feed resource. The recommended seeding rate is 3-4.5 million seeds per hectare, ensuring optimal ear density — 800 to 1000 ears per square meter.
KWS Dante exhibits high resistance to various diseases and adverse conditions. The variety demonstrates excellent resistance to helminthosporiosis, powdery mildew, dark brown spot, scab, and other diseases, rated 8-9 points on the resistance scale. In addition, the plant shows high resistance to lodging (9 points) and stem breakage (7-8.5 points), as well as cold tolerance down to -5°C, allowing cultivation in various climatic zones.
A distinctive feature of this variety is its low and strong stem, providing high resistance to lodging and internode breakage in the panicle space. The grain exhibits high uniformity — 94 to 97%, contributing to improved quality and uniformity of the harvest. Optimal preceding crops for growing KWS Dante include peas, corn, winter and spring rape, and soybeans. Seeds should be stored at +7-10°C and humidity not exceeding 10%, ensuring preservation of their sowing quality.
