Lucienne

Winter barley variety Lucienne is a six-row medium-late variety with a vegetation period of about 260-262 days. The head is dense, rhombic-shaped, 8-10 cm long, golden-yellow in color, with long, serrated awns. Plants reach a height of 70-85 cm, have a strong stem, ensuring good resistance to lodging. The variety belongs to an intensive type, possesses high plasticity and does not require special agronomic conditions, allowing cultivation in all climatic zones of Ukraine, including steppe, forest-steppe, and lowland areas. The main feature of Lucienne variety is its high winter hardiness (8 points) and excellent drought resistance (8-9 points), making it a reliable choice for various regions. The variety is resistant to lodging and exhibits high resistance to main barley diseases such as powdery mildew, rust, helminthosporium, and leaf spot, with tolerance ratings from 7 to 9 points. Thanks to these characteristics, Lucienne allows reducing the costs of plant protection. Yield is stable and averages 60-70 c/ha, with potential up to 95 c/ha, confirmed by results across different regions of Ukraine with yields ranging from 45.4 to 79.4 c/ha. Protein content in grain varies from 11.2 to 12.0%, making it suitable for grain use. Recommended seeding rate depends on sowing time and ranges from 3 to 3.5 million seeds per hectare. Developed by the German company Saaten Union, this variety is characterized by high tillering intensity and soil plasticity, which helps maximize its breeding potential.
