Description
MARISSA is a medium-maturing, six-row winter barley variety of elite class, belonging to an intensive type. This highly adaptive variety is distinguished by excellent lodging resistance and consistently high yields, reaching 7-10 tons per hectare. MARISSA exhibits high drought tolerance throughout the entire vegetation period, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions. The variety is characterized by high tillering capacity, which contributes to the formation of a robust and productive plant mass.
One of the key features of this variety is its high resistance to diseases, particularly powdery mildew and rust, which significantly reduces the risk of yield loss and the need for intensive fungicide applications. MARISSA also demonstrates good winter hardiness, ensuring the preservation of crops during cold periods. Its medium-early maturing and medium-late lodging characteristics allow for optimal planning of agronomic practices and harvest timing.
For sowing, the recommended seeding rate depends on the sowing date: early sowing (September 10-15) — 2.8-3.0 million seeds per hectare, optimal (September 20-30) — 3.0-3.2 million/ha, late (October 5-10) — 3.4-3.6 million/ha. The 1000-seed weight is 52-60 grams, protein content in grain reaches 13.3%, and raw gluten content exceeds 28%. The variety is suitable for cultivation across the entire territory of Ukraine, including regions such as Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Poltava, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv.
