Description
Marusya is a type of winter barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) of the two-rowed type, belonging to medium-ripening multi-rowed varieties intended for grain fodder use. It was bred using a hybrid combination of Master and Dar and included in the State Register for the North Caucasus region, recommended for cultivation in the Rostov region and Stavropol Krai. The ears are six-rowed, cylindrical in shape, 4-5 cm long, with a straw-yellow color and dense structure. The grain is of medium size, semi-circular, yellow in color with long hair at the base. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 38 to 49 grams, which significantly exceeds the indicators of standard varieties. The variety is characterized by high yield — on average 61.6 c/ha, with maximum indicators up to 112.4 c/ha. The vegetative period is 258-263 days, which allows the variety to mature 1-3 days earlier than the standard Master variety. Marusya has high resistance to lodging and brittleness, and also demonstrates high biological and field winter hardiness. In terms of protein content in the grain, the variety exceeds the standard, reaching 11.3-12.0%, which makes it especially valuable for fodder use. In terms of resistance to diseases, the Marusya variety shows weak infection with brown rust and powdery mildew, medium resistance to helminthosporiosis, and high susceptibility to loose smut. Nevertheless, compared to benchmark varieties, it shows improved resistance to leaf diseases and powdery mildew. Due to its high agronomic characteristics and adaptation to the climatic conditions of the North Caucasus region, the Marusya variety is a promising choice for agricultural production in the specified regions.
