Metelitsia

Metelitsia is a medium-height winter barley variety, not exceeding 90 cm in height, intended for cultivation in Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones. This six-row barley features a straw-yellow rectangular ear up to 9 cm long with a loose structure. The variety exhibits good tillering, contributing to a full yield. Metelitsia is characterized by drought and winter hardiness, rated at 6-7 points, ensuring reliable winter survival and stable plant development under adverse climatic conditions.

The Metelitsia variety demonstrates moderate resistance to pathogens, including various types of spot diseases (5 points) and powdery mildew (6 points). It does not require special treatment technologies, making cultivation easier and more accessible for a broad range of agricultural producers. Winter barley generally has the ability to effectively utilize autumn-winter precipitation, which under favorable conditions can significantly increase yield.

Metelitsia possesses high yield potential, reaching approximately 60 centners per hectare during variety trials. This winter barley ripens 8-12 days earlier than winter wheat, allowing for optimized harvest timing and reduced risk associated with unfavorable weather conditions at the end of the season. Due to its biological characteristics and adaptability, the Metelitsia variety is a reliable choice for cultivation in regions with moderate climates.
