NEVAN

NEVAN is a variety of spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) of the pallidum type, intended for grain-feed use. It is characterized by early maturity with a vegetative period of 68 to 76 days, allowing it to ripen earlier than winter rye. The plants are medium height, ranging from 60 to 80 cm, and weakly culm-forming. The mass of 1000 grains varies within 35.3-42.4 g, indicating good grain quality. The variety is distinguished by lodging resistance at a level of 3.0-4.6 points, ensuring yield stability under unfavorable weather conditions.

NEVAN is included in the State Register for the Northern, Volga-Vyatsky, and Eastern Siberian regions, confirming its adaptation to various climatic zones. Yield on variety plots reaches 2.60 to 4.36 tons per hectare, which is a good indicator for feed barley. Protein content in the grain is in the range of 12.5-14.9%, making this variety valuable for feeding animals, providing them with necessary nutrients.

The NEVAN variety has high requirements for soil fertility, which should be taken into account when cultivating it to achieve maximum productivity. It possesses resistance to powdery scab, however, it is more susceptible to stem rust and helminthosporiosis, which requires the implementation of appropriate agronomic and protective measures. Overall, this barley is a reliable and effective choice for the feed direction in agriculture.
