Description
ODESSKY 100 is a mid-ripening spring variety of barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) of the nutans type, intended for cultivation in the Central-Black Earth, North Caucasus, and Middle Volga regions. The vegetation period ranges from 65 to 85 days, allowing for a stable harvest under moderate climate conditions. Plants are of medium height — from 58 to 90 cm, with an upright bush and dark green narrow leaves. The spike is awned, 6-8 cm long, of medium density, with long yellow barbed awns pressed close to the spike. The grain is large, elongated-elliptical, straw-yellow in color, with a 1000-grain mass varying from 42 to 52 grams. The variety is distinguished by high productive bushiness, while secondary shoots do not lag behind the main one in height, and grain on all shoots ripens simultaneously, ensuring uniformity of the harvest. The stem is thin, elastic, and resistant to lodging, contributing to the preservation of grain quality under unfavorable weather conditions. ODESSKY 100 exhibits high heat and drought resistance, making it a reliable choice for regions with a changeable climate and lack of moisture. Regarding disease resistance, the variety shows weak susceptibility to powdery mildew, dwarf rust, loose smut, and helminthosporiosis, reducing the need for frequent fungicide application and promoting environmental friendliness of production. Protein content in the grain ranges from 11.7 to 15.6%, making it valuable for the brewing industry and other branches of the food industry. Thanks to its qualities and stable yield, ODESSKY 100 is an in-demand barley variety for agrarians focused on high quality and reliability.
