Description
OMSK 102 is a medium-maturing variety of spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) of the brewing type, developed in the Omsk Agrarian Research Center. It belongs to the nudans group and is characterized by a vegetative period of 75-82 days. The variety boasts high yield and resistance to lodging and drought, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in the West Siberian region, including the Omsk and Tyumen regions.
OMSK 102 is distinguished by increased yield compared to traditional varieties, especially when cultivated after a fallow predecessor, where yield increase can reach from 1.60 to 2.27 tons per hectare. The variety shows resistance to main barley diseases, including weak susceptibility to black and powdery scab and medium susceptibility to loose smut, as well as moderate susceptibility to root rots. Under unfavorable climatic conditions, the variety maintains high productivity, which is confirmed by multi-year research results.
The grain of the OMSK 102 variety is distinguished by increased size and extractability, which is an important indicator for brewing raw materials. These qualities make it promising for use in the brewing industry and agriculture of the region. The variety has passed state variety testing in several regions and is recommended for widespread application in the forest-steppe and steppe zones of Western Siberia.
