Description
POVOLZHSKIY 65 is a mid-early spring barley variety intended for cultivation in the Middle Volga region, including the Samara region and the Republic of Tatarstan. It was included in the State Register in 1998 and developed by FGBNU "Povolzhye Research Institute of Breeding and Seed Production named after P.N. Konstantinov". The variety is characterized by high productive bushiness and optimal plant height from 50 to 70 cm, which contributes to the formation of a stable yield.
This barley is distinguished by its resistance to drought and main diseases, as well as to stem-boring pests, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in Middle Volga zone conditions with a harsh climate. However, the variety is susceptible to powdery head smut. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 42 to 51 grams, while the natural grain mass is 680-690 g/L. The protein content in the grain is in the range of 13-17%, which ensures high grain quality for forage use.
POVOLZHSKIY 65 is intended for grain production and is widely used in agriculture to obtain high yields. The average yield of the variety in the region reaches 29.4 centners per hectare. Thanks to its agronomic characteristics and adaptation to climatic conditions, this variety is an effective solution for farmers seeking stable and quality barley production.
