Description
The Shedevr barley variety is a multi-row, high-yielding, intensive type of bright-seeded barley. It belongs to the rickettsia group and has a medium-maturing group with a vegetative period of about 85 days. Plants are low-growing, 60-65 cm tall, with a six-row ear. The 1000-grain weight is 45 grams, and the grain density reaches 690 g/l. The grain contains waxy starch, entirely composed of amylopectin, making it especially valuable for producing dietary and children's food products.
The Shedevr variety is recommended for cultivation in the Forest-Steppe zone and exhibits high disease resistance: resistance to rust and powdery mildew is rated at 9 points, and resistance to helminthosporium leaf spot ranges from 7 to 9 points. Additionally, the variety shows good drought tolerance, resistance to lodging and shattering, contributing to stable high yields. The potential yield of this variety reaches 10.0 t/ha, with state trials showing yields of approximately 7.0 t/ha.
The agronomic technology for growing the Shedevr variety is standard for the Forest-Steppe zone, with early sowing dates and seeding rates of 4-4.5 million seeds per hectare. The high protein content in the grain (12.0-13.6%) and its quality characteristics make this variety attractive for grain-oriented use, ensuring a stable and high-quality yield for the food industry.
