Description
TANAY is a mid-early spring barley variety intended for grain and forage use. The vegetative period ranges from 67 to 86 days, maturing several days earlier than other varieties such as Signal and Omsky 91. The plant is of medium height with a semi-erect bush, characterized by a pyramid-shaped ear of medium density and a strong waxy coating. The grain is of medium and large size, with a 1000-grain mass ranging from 35 to 51 grams, ensuring high yield—an average of 23.6 centners per hectare, with maximum indicators up to 74.9 c/ha in individual regions.
The variety has good resistance to powdery and bunt heads, moderate susceptibility to helminthosporium and Swedish fly, but is susceptible to root rot. Protein content in the grain varies from 10.7 to 14.9%, which meets the requirements for grain and forage barley. Morphological features include strong anthocyanin pigmentation of the flag leaf ears and a waxy coating on the sheaths of lower leaves, which aids the plant's adaptation to growing conditions in the West Siberian and East Siberian regions.
TANAY is the result of breeding work aimed at creating a high-yielding and durable barley variety adapted to Siberian climatic conditions. Thanks to its characteristics, it is widely used in agriculture to obtain high-quality grain for feed purposes. The variety demonstrates stable yield and disease resistance indicators, making it an attractive choice for agrarians seeking efficient and reliable barley production.
