Tutankhamun

The winter barley variety Tutankhamun is a high-yielding two-row type, recommended for cultivation in the Forest-Steppe and Steppe regions. This medium-maturing variety belongs to the pallidum type and has a period from emergence to heading of approximately 220 days. Plant height is 100-105 cm, with semi-erect bushes exhibiting good tillering that begins in autumn and continues into early spring. The ear is six-rowed, cylindrical, 7-8 cm long, straw-yellow in color, with long, serrated awns that acquire a slight anthocyanic tint during grain filling. Tutankhamun exhibits high resistance to adverse conditions: winter hardiness is above average, drought resistance and lodging resistance are rated 6-8 points. The variety also shows good disease resistance, including powdery mildew (6-7 points) and leaf spot diseases (6-8 points). Leaves are green, intermediate in type, which promotes efficient photosynthesis and plant development. The 1000-grain weight varies from 43.2 to 46.4 g, and the grain protein content is 13.5-14.5%, ensuring high-quality harvest. To achieve maximum yield, which may reach 93.6 centners per hectare, it is recommended to apply integrated agronomic practices, including mineral fertilizers, potassium humate, and fungicides and insecticides as per instructions. The seeding rate is 180-250 kg/ha depending on sowing dates and weather conditions. The variety adapts well to various sowing times — autumn, February drill, and spring — making it a versatile choice for intensive cultivation technologies.
