KRIMCHANIN is a mid-early basil variety with a compact and heavily foliated plant. Leaves are large, dark purple with a crimson tint, smooth surface and wavy edges. Flowers have dark purple coloration. The plant is characterized by high yield and enhanced aroma due to high essential oil content. The period from germination to commercial maturity is 55-65 days. The mass of one plant reaches 150-200 grams, and green yield is 2.5-3.0 kg per square meter. KRIMCHANIN is recommended for use both fresh and dried as a seasoning and flavoring additive for canning and preparing various dishes.
Basil cultivation is possible both in open ground and in home culture. Sowing for seedlings is done in late March - early April, and transplanting to open ground - in late May - early June at the stage of 5-6 true leaves with row spacing of 30 by 25 cm. Seeds can be sown directly into the ground from late May to a depth of 1-1.5 cm, thinning seedlings to a distance of 15-20 cm between plants. To obtain quality greens throughout the season, repeated sowings with a three-week interval until mid-July are recommended.
