Description
Purple Salute is an early-maturing and high-yield basil variety, distinguished by its rich clove-like aroma. The plant reaches a height of 30-40 cm and forms a neat, raised rosette with a diameter of 22-25 cm. The leaves are of medium size, egg-shaped, smooth, and have an attractive green-purple color, which gives the plant decorative value. Thanks to these qualities, a basil bush transplanted into a pot can become a stylish decoration for a kitchen interior.
This variety of basil is widely used in cooking: it imparts a special aroma to traditional soups and broths, and also serves as an appetizing and healthy garnish for meat, fish, fresh salads, and morning sandwiches. Mass harvesting of greens begins 40-48 days after seedlings appear, which allows for fresh greens to be obtained in a short time.
Growing Purple Salute basil is possible both by seedling method and by direct sowing in open ground. Sowing for seedlings is recommended at the end of March – beginning of April, and sowing in soil – in May or early June. Transplanting seedlings into open ground is carried out in early June following a planting scheme of 30x30 cm. For successful growth, the plant prefers well-structured, humus-rich soils and requires regular watering.
