Description
Basil 'Robin Good' is a mid-season purple variety with an intense clove aroma and a sweet-bitter taste. The period from germination to initial marketable yield is 48-50 days, and to the start of flowering — 65-70 days. Plants reach a height of 45-50 cm, have a mass of 200-300 grams and a width of 30-35 cm. The yield is 2-2.5 kg per square meter.
This basil variety is used as a spiced condiment in fresh, dried, and frozen forms, and is also suitable for pickling. Thanks to its aroma and taste qualities, it is excellent for various culinary purposes, imparting a rich and pleasant aroma to dishes.
The agrotechnology for growing 'Robin Good' basil involves sowing dry seeds into trays at a depth of 0.5-1 cm at the end of March to early April at an optimal temperature of 20-25°C. Seedlings appear in 10-15 days. Seedlings are transplanted into open ground after the last frost with a distance of 15-20 cm between plants and 60 cm between rows; the planting depth is 6-8 cm. Successful growth requires loosening inter-rows, weeding, regular watering, and fertilization. Sowing for seedlings is usually done in April, and planting in the ground in June, followed by harvesting from June to September.
