Fortuna

Fortuna broccoli represents a mid-season variety with a maturity period of 80-85 days from seedling emergence to harvest. The plant forms a slightly raised rosette of gray-green leaves with a weakly vesicular surface. The head is round-flat in shape, of medium density and tender texture, weighing between 300 and 400 grams. This variety is distinguished by uniform maturation and high nutritional value, surpassing cauliflower in calcium, iron salts, and vitamins A and C content.

Fortuna possesses high resistance to unfavorable growing conditions and withstands frost down to -7 °C, allowing cultivation in colder climate zones. Seeds can be sown directly into the ground starting in early May, or seedlings can be used, transplanting them between May 10 and June 20. Plants require loamy, moist soils with a deep arable layer and high humus content, as broccoli is very moisture-loving. A lack of moisture negatively affects yield and product quality.

One of the unique features of the Fortuna variety is its ability to form side heads after cutting the central one, which significantly extends the harvest period. Heads have a tender texture and excellent taste, making them versatile for various culinary applications.
