Engine Performance and Reliability

The core of the Case IH Puma series is the 6.7-liter FPT Industrial engine featuring a high-pressure Common Rail fuel system. The engineering focus here is on torque density at low engine speeds, which is essential for heavy draft applications such as deep tillage. By utilizing the Hi-eSCR2 after-treatment system, the engine eliminates the need for Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR). This significantly reduces cooling system debris buildup, ensuring better heat dissipation and engine longevity in harsh, dusty field environments.

Transmission Engineering

Case IH provides two distinct transmission options to match specific operational needs. The Full Powershift transmission allows for smooth, under-load shifting without interrupting power delivery, which is ideal for working through variable soil textures. Alternatively, the CVXDrive continuously variable transmission utilizes a dual-clutch mechanism to maintain the most efficient engine RPMs regardless of forward speed. In practice, this setup can yield up to 15% fuel savings during transport cycles while maintaining constant speeds for high-precision planting.

Hydraulics and Precision Farming

Equipped with a hydraulic pump capacity of up to 170 L/min, the Puma is capable of handling large-scale implements and high-flow seeding units. Operators can customize hydraulic flow priorities for individual remote valves directly from the cab. Integration with the HMC II Headland Management Control system allows the operator to automate repetitive maneuvers—such as raising the implement, adjusting engine speed, and disengaging the PTO—reducing operator fatigue and ensuring consistent performance across the field.

Operator Environment

The Surround Vision cab is designed for maximum visibility. The MultiControl armrest centralizes all critical functions—ground speed, hitch control, and hydraulics—into one ergonomic zone. This layout reduces unnecessary movement and helps the operator focus on maintaining consistent working depths and speeds, rather than managing complex controls.
