Description
The Chrysanthemum variety Ryabinka is a semi-spreading plant of medium growth strength, reaching heights from 60 to 90 cm, with sparse foliage. Leaves are green and smooth, while flower stems are sturdy, ensuring stability of inflorescences. Flowers are single-petaled, with diameters from 5 to 8 cm, colored in orange-yellow tones with a light fragrance. From one plant, from 50 to 60 inflorescences form, with 10-12 flowers located on each flower stem. The flowering period begins in August-September and can continue until November, allowing to enjoy the plant's decorativeness for several weeks. The variety differs in medium resistance to adverse weather conditions, possesses medium winter hardiness and drought resistance, as well as heat resistance, making it suitable for growing in subtropical zones.
For successful cultivation of the Ryabinka chrysanthemum, it is recommended to choose sunny places protected from the wind with dry soil rich in humus and light, possessing good drainage properties. High groundwater level is inadmissible, as excessive moisture can lead to root rot and death of the plant. Planting is better to conduct on a cloudy or rainy day, and in hot sunny weather – early morning or late evening. The roots of the plant grow parallel to the soil surface, so they are not dug too deeply. For tall specimens, the installation of additional support is recommended.
Care for the chrysanthemum includes moderate watering using settled or rainwater to avoid root rot, while in dry periods watering is increased to maintain the decorativeness of flowers and prevent stem lignification. Preparation for winter requires covering the plant after the ground has slightly frozen and stable minus temperatures have been established, while it is important to avoid covering during autumn rains and at temperatures above zero to prevent waterlogging and death of the bush. Thanks to such conditions, the Ryabinka chrysanthemum will become a bright and durable decoration of the garden.
