Cotton variety «PHOENIX» (Gossypium hirsutum L.) is intended for cultivation in the dry zone of the North Caucasus and is suitable both for mechanized harvesting and traditional collection methods. The plant of medium height with a conical shape has medium leaf density and a moderate number of nodes up to the first fruit-bearing branch. Leaves are palmate of medium size, with one vein on one side and a moderately hairy underside. Within the leaf are gossypol glands; nectar is absent.

The finish product is characterized by medium length and fiber strength (Type V), staple length of about 32–33 mm, linear density of 170 mteks. The mass of raw cotton per boll is about 4.5–6.1 g, and the fiber yield is 37 %. Cotton raw yield varies from 16.9 to 47.4 c/ha depending on cultivation conditions; with manual harvesting it reaches about 70 %. The mass of 1000 seeds is in the range of 110–120 g, and seed yield is 10.5–20 c/ha. The vegetative period is 105–125 days.

The variety is resistant to sucking pests (spider mites, aphids), as well as to verticillium and fusarium wilt. It is recommended to cultivate at a planting density of 80,000–100,000 plants per hectare with six-fold cultivation and threefold irrigation during the vegetation period, which provides optimal conditions for plant growth and development.
