Description
Parthenocarpic hybrid cucumber of cornichon type for cultivation, primarily in open ground. Due to its medium growth vigor, early maturity, and generative plant development type, it allows achieving the highest yields. Small leaves provide an open plant type, significantly facilitating harvest. Fruits are green in color, with a length-to-diameter ratio of 3.0:1.0. Crisp flesh and tender skin, while fruits maintain the transportability characteristic of Nunhems hybrids. A universal hybrid, ideally suited for pickling. This is why McDonald's uses pickled Satina fruits to prepare their hamburgers.
Satina also shows good performance when grown in plastic greenhouses, both in the first and second crop rotations. Plants form at least 2-3 fruits per node, so the optimal planting density is 2.5-3.3 plants per m2, grown as single stems without suckers. Mandatory practice is pinching (removal of flowers and suckers) in the axils of the first two to three leaves. The hybrid has sufficient growth vigor and maintains high generative capacity, ensuring lower agronomic requirements compared to Athena. The hybrid is relatively resistant to powdery mildew, downy mildew, and cladosporiosis.

Beginning of fruiting
The early maturity of watermelon varieties mainly depends on the duration of growth and fruit ripening phases, rather than the timing of female flower blooming. Many varieties, ripening at different times, begin to bloom almost simultaneously. Approximately 30 days after fruit se... |
