Description

Tsunami F1 cucumber — an early-maturing hybrid, suitable for cultivation in both open and protected ground, especially ideal for late spring-early summer rotations. The plant is strong, fast-growing, and robust, predominantly female-flowering, with a tendency to form clustered fruiting. The fruits are cylindrical with a blunt tip, 14–18 cm long, dark green with sparse bumps and delicate white spines. The skin is thin, the flesh light green, juicy, and has a delicate flavor, making this variety particularly attractive for fresh consumption.

The Tsunami hybrid exhibits high resistance to several diseases, including true powdery mildew, cucumber mosaic virus, and false powdery mildew, ensuring stable yields. For cooler climates, it is recommended to grow from seedlings, sown at the end of April to early May at 23–25°C, with seedling temperatures maintained at 18–20°C after germination. Seedlings are transplanted to the field after 25–30 days at a density of about 3 plants per square meter. In open ground, no training is required, while in greenhouses, plants are grown on trellises with pinching to achieve an earlier and higher-quality harvest.

Care for Tsunami cucumbers includes regular, abundant watering with settled water and feeding with mineral and organic fertilizers. Harvesting is performed daily in open ground and daily in greenhouses, allowing for the collection of fresh, small, pickling-type cucumbers with short white stripes and moderate ribbing. Due to its flavor, resistance, and ease of cultivation, the Tsunami variety is an excellent choice for gardeners aiming to obtain an early, flavorful cucumber harvest.
