The fungicide seed treatment "KARIOLIS, TN" from the "Agrochemical Factory" (Cherkasy, Ukraine) is a precision-engineered combination of active ingredients designed to create a protective barrier during the critical germination phase of oilseed rape and sunflowers. The primary goal of this formulation is to eliminate the risk of seedling loss due to soil-borne and seed-borne pathogens.

Synergy of Active Ingredients

The product's efficacy is based on the synergy of two distinct chemical classes:

• Metalaxyl-M (phenylamides): A systemic component that is rapidly absorbed by the seeds and translocated as the sprout grows. It inhibits ribosomal RNA synthesis in pathogens, providing powerful protection against oomycetes, including downy mildew (peronosporosis) and root rots.
• Fludioxonil (phenylpyrroles): A contact-penetrating agent with prolonged residual protection. It inhibits the transport of amino acids in fungal cells, making it essential for managing a wide spectrum of pathogens, including Alternaria, Phoma, and various forms of rot (white and grey mold).

Technical Application Benefits

The emulsion formulation ensures high-quality adhesion to the seed surface, creating a uniform protective layer. Systemic activity allows the components to distribute within the seedling, shielding it from pathogens for the first 4–6 weeks after sowing—the window of highest vulnerability. The inclusion of amino acid derivatives provides physiological support to the seedling, minimizing the stress often associated with chemical treatment agents.

Application Guidelines

The product is classified as a Hazard Class 3 agent and requires standard handling precautions. The application rate varies from 2 to 6 liters per ton of seeds, depending on the phytosanitary status of the seed lot and the expected infection pressure. A single treatment is sufficient to provide prolonged fungicidal action, optimizing farm operations and resource efficiency.
