Advanced protection for soybeans against seed and soilborne pathogens through the synergy of pyraclostrobin and fluxapyroxad by BASF S.A.
Description
Technical Efficiency of Merivon® Pro Seed Treatment
The efficacy of Merivon® Pro by BASF S.A. is built upon the synergy of two potent active ingredients: pyraclostrobin (a strobilurin) and the innovative carboxamide fluxapyroxad. This combination is designed not just to eliminate pathogens but to shift the plant's metabolic resources toward healthy development rather than stress recovery.
Dual Mechanism Against Pathogens
- Pyraclostrobin disrupts mitochondrial respiration in fungal cells, effectively stripping them of energy. This provides a robust protective barrier against major pathogens, including Fusarium and Septoria.
- Fluxapyroxad (an SDHI molecule) demonstrates exceptional systemic mobility and stability. Beyond its direct fungicidal activity, it leverages AgCelence® physiological effects to boost soybean resilience against abiotic stressors.
The formulation, presented as an emulsion for seed treatment, ensures uniform coverage and reliable adhesion to the seed surface. With a dosage rate of 0.5–1.0 L/t, it offers broad-spectrum protection against root rots, downy mildew (Peronospora), and Ascochyta blight—diseases that typically compromise soybean yield potential during early growth stages.
Field Application and Benefits
Using Merivon® Pro allows growers to achieve uniform emergence even in fields with significant soilborne pathogen pressure. The systemic nature of the active ingredients guarantees seedling protection during the critical initial growth phase. As a Class 2 hazard product, it is designed for a single application, providing a comprehensive protective shield that remains active when the crop is most vulnerable.
