At the core of the "Polyversum" fungicide by the Czech manufacturer Biopreparáty, Spol. S R.O. lies the unique oomycete Pythium oligandrum. Unlike conventional synthetic fungicides that target pathogen enzymes, this preparation utilizes a strategy of active mycoparasitism. Once applied to the plant surface, the beneficial fungus actively hunts for the hyphae of phytopathogens, feeding on their cellular content. This provides robust control against a wide array of diseases, including powdery mildew, gray mold (botrytis), and various types of root rot.

As a wettable powder, the preparation requires precise preparation of the working solution to maintain spore viability. Being a contact fungicide, its efficacy is strictly linked to the quality of coverage on the leaves and stems.

• Application rate ranges from 0.5 to 1.0 l/ha, adjusted according to the crop type and existing disease pressure.

In field crops like winter barley, winter rapeseed, soy, and fodder beet, Polyversum does more than just suppress primary infection centers of root and gray rots. The presence of Pythium oligandrum triggers plant defense signaling pathways (via the production of tryptamine-like compounds), which bolsters the plant's natural immune system against abiotic stresses. For orchards, such as apple and sweet cherry, it provides a powerful biological barrier against scab and monilia.
