Barbakan BSI

Barbakan is an early-to-medium maturity hazelnut (Corylus) variety developed by American breeders. This variety is characterized by large nuts weighing from 4 to 10 grams, which have a conical shape. The shell of the nuts is thin and easily splits, facilitating the extraction of the flavorful kernel. The hazelnut kernel of Barbakan has a pleasant taste and high nutritional value.

The fruits ripen in mid-September, allowing them to be used both for fresh consumption and for processing. The plant's leaves change color from green at the base to red at the edges, giving the shrub a decorative appearance. The fruit's husk is light-red in color, significantly larger than the nut itself, tightly adhering to it, and its edges have characteristic sharp teeth.
