Sofia

The hemp variety Sofia was developed by breeders of the Institute of Agriculture of the North-East of NAAN and registered in 2021. It is a monoecious variety, recommended for the forest-steppe zone, with plant height up to 3 meters and more. The seed yield reaches more than 2 tons per hectare, while the yield of stems and fiber reaches more than 8 and 2.5 tons respectively. Seeds contain about 33% oil, and the THC level does not exceed 0.08%, making the variety safe for use in various industries. Sofia is distinguished by high resistance to diseases and pests: resistance to fusarium and hemp flea is rated 8 points, to stem rust — 7 points. Thanks to these characteristics, the variety demonstrates stable productivity and reliability in cultivation. The versatility of the variety is reflected in a wide range of practical applications: oil, kernels, flour, bran, dried cakes, and compound feed are obtained from seeds. Fiber is used for producing gunpowder, hygienic clothing, camouflage nets, threads, ropes, and other materials. The variety Sofia represents a promising solution for developing various production sectors, including agriculture and defense industry. Its versatility and high productivity make it attractive for farmers and producers seeking efficient and ecologically safe hemp use.
