Technical Features and Field Practice

The 'Katyusha' industrial hemp variety is the product of breeding work by the Institute of Agriculture of the North-East of the NAAS of Ukraine. Operators working with this variety note the stability of the vegetation period, which is critical for planning the harvesting campaign. Unlike imported hybrids, 'Katyusha' demonstrates high adaptability to the soil and climatic conditions of the Forest-Steppe and Polissya regions.

Field Operations

During cultivation, the variety does not require specific equipment modifications: standard precision seeders handle the task effectively when following recommended seeding rates. An important aspect is the high THC content, which imposes strict requirements on the legal documentation of the fields and access control. The crop is undemanding to manage, but sensitive to timing; delays in harvesting lead to a decrease in the quality of fiber and seeds.

Maintenance and Logistics

The harvesting process requires timely adjustment of headers to avoid losses due to seed shattering. The crop is characterized by good uniformity of the stand, which facilitates the operation of combine harvesters and reduces the load on the threshing mechanism. Transportation is standard, although due to the specific nature of the raw material, it is recommended to use sealed truck beds to prevent losses. The replanting or repair capacity of the stands in case of damage is minimal — the crop requires a systematic approach, so primary attention is paid to preventive pest control during early growth stages.
