Description
Hydrangea paniculata «Zarya Leskovo» – this is a bush 1.0 to 1.2 m high with a fan-shaped form and shoots of milk chocolate color. Leaves are simple, narrowly-oval, green in color, persist until leaf fall, and their edges are finely serrated. The plant is undemanding: prefers sunny areas and soils with high humus content, but at the same time tolerates even severe frosts – from -36 °C without shelter.
Hydrangea «Zarya Leskovo» inflorescences have a pyramidal shape 30–40 cm and more in length. With increased nitrogen, lateral protrusions can turn into independent inflorescences, and the end of each panicle is decorated with a small asymmetrical «topknot». Flowers begin to bloom white, then turn into a pale pink and rich pink shade. During the season, flowering continues from the second decade of July until frost.
Variety features include large internodes of inflorescences, which with good moisture form lateral protrusions; the diameter of the panicle base can reach 20–25 cm by the end of flowering. In the autumn period, inflorescences are fully dyed pink, and on the top of each of them a unique long «topknot» appears – a sign of distinctiveness from other varieties. The plant is suitable both as a soliter and for creating color accents in compositions, and can be grown in containers and on various types of soils thanks to its resistance to weather conditions.
