The KhTZ T-40AM is a classic representative of the 0.9 traction class, featuring a semi-frame design where the engine is rigidly bolted to the clutch housing and transmission. Powertrain and Drivetrain

At the core of this machine lies the D-144 four-cylinder air-cooled diesel engine. By utilizing forced air cooling instead of a liquid system, the design significantly simplifies field maintenance, eliminating common issues like radiator leaks or pump failures. The engine provides 50 HP, balancing fuel economy with the torque required for medium-duty field work.
