Krepysh

Krepys is a variety of flax (Linum usitatissimum L. f. elongata) characterized by a late maturity period and a vegetative period of about 74 days. The plant has a medium stem length, a violet corolla in the bud stage, which becomes blue when fully developed, as well as brown seeds. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to lodging and shattering, as well as medium drought resistance. The mass of 1000 seeds is 4.8 grams. Krepys is recommended for cultivation in the North-West and Central regions of Russia, including the Vologda, Bryansk, and Ivanovo regions.

Flax straw yield in the North-West region reaches 35.1 centners per hectare, which corresponds to the standard, and in the Central region - 41.7 centners per hectare, which is above the standard. The output of long fibers ranges from 23.4% to 28.5%, which exceeds standard indicators by 6-8%. The content of total fiber is also above the standard by 8%. The fiber is characterized by a medium linear density and high breaking load, indicating its strength and flexibility. Seed yield varies from 4.8 to 5.4 centners per hectare. The variety has medium susceptibility to Fusarium wilt, with damage of about 15% on an infected background.

Krepys is suitable for the production of high-quality flax fiber due to the high yield of long fiber and good technological characteristics. Its resistance to adverse conditions and high yield make this variety attractive for agricultural cultivation in the indicated regions. Thanks to its properties, Krepys can be used in the textile industry and other areas where strong and quality flax fiber is required.
