Description
Tomsk 16 is a flax variety developed for effective crop rotation and high yield. This variety is distinguished by its good resistance to diseases and low temperatures, which allows it to be grown in various climatic zones. Thanks to these qualities, Tomsk 16 is a reliable choice for agrarians seeking a stable and quality flax harvest.
Research on the variety was conducted from 2015 to 2018 on an experimental field in the subtaiga zone of the Omsk region with heavy clay loam forest soil. During comparative tests with other varieties of Tomsk selection, Tomsk 16 showed high yield: the average output of flax straw ranged from 3.20 to 3.98 tons per hectare, and seed yield ranged from 0.49 to 0.62 tons per hectare. These figures confirm its effectiveness and adaptability to complex soil and climatic conditions.
In addition to agricultural significance, flax Tomsk 16 has important medical applications. Flax seeds contain a significant amount of fat oil (30-48%), including glycerides of linolenic, linoleic, oleic, palmitic, and stearic acids, as well as mucilage, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, and other biologically active substances. Seeds and flax oil are used in medical practice as an anti-inflammatory agent for gastritis and enterocolitis, as well as for eliminating radionuclides from the body. Flax oil is used in dietary nutrition for various diseases, including atherosclerosis, ischemic heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and liver diseases. Additionally, linetol, produced from flax oil, is used to treat skin lesions and burns.
