Description
BERRICA – a compact, medium-sized honeysuckle shrub, about 1.5 meters tall, which fits easily into dacha plots and private gardens. The bushes have an inverted-conical crown, thick, slightly curved branches colored violet-grey, which gives the plant a decorative appearance even outside the fruiting period.
BERRICA leaves are elongated-oval, dark-green glossy shade with a wedge-shaped base. They are covered with thin veins, creating a characteristic texture. In mid-May, the bushes open small pale-yellow flowers, emitting a bright aroma, attracting pollinators and promoting fruiting.
Elongated-bumpy berries weigh about 0.75 g, covered with a thin blue skin with a light waxy coating. The taste is sour-sweet, rated 4.5 points, and the aroma – delicate and slightly noticeable. The yield is not high: per season, about 2.5 kg are harvested per bush, which is equivalent to 45-57 centners per hectare. Berries ripen in the second decade of July, the harvest period lasts from two to three weeks. BERRICA is not self-fertile and requires neighboring honeysuckle for pollination, however, it is resistant to mosaic virus of honeysuckle and rarely affected by pests.
