Description
Viburnum 'Kuminovka' is a mid-ripening variety developed by breeder L. P. Kuminov and included in the State Register since 1998. The plant forms a compact bush about two meters tall with an oval crown; shoots are straight, pale brown-red, and leaves are light green. Flowers are large, yellow, and bloom in May, while fruits ripen in June.
The variety's berries are large, elongated-cylindrical in shape: about 2.2 cm long, 1 cm in diameter, and weighing approximately 1.1 g. They are dark blue with a blue bloom, have a dense skin and juicy flesh. The taste is sweet-sour and refreshing, without bitterness, while retaining a pleasant aroma. Due to the weak shattering of ripe berries and ease of harvesting, the yield reaches up to 2.1 kg per bush.
'Kuminovka' is distinguished by good frost resistance and moderate drought resistance, making it suitable for cultivation in various regions of Russia. The variety is intended for both dessert use and home processing; berries separate easily from the stem during harvesting. It grows well on chernozem, loamy, sandy, and podzolic soils, and is resistant to most common diseases and pests of viburnum.
