Description
The Lonicera 'Lyonya' variety is an early-maturing plant suitable for universal use in the food and confectionery industries. The bush is of medium height, upright, with medium density and an oval crown. It has brown-red shoots that are moderately hairy, and leaves that are medium-sized, green, with weakly hairy blades and a straight base. The flowers are of moderate size, indicating good fruit set.
The fruits of the variety reach a mass of 0.8 to 1.1 grams, have an elongated oval shape, a weakly bumpy surface, and a violet-blue color. The skin is thick, the pulp is medium-density, the taste is sour-sweet without bitterness, accompanied by a slight aroma. Inside, there is 11.14% sugar, 2.0% acid, and 62 mg of vitamin C per 100 g of product, making the fruits a valuable source of nutrients.
The variety is distinguished by high yield – up to 80 c/ha in open fields or 2.3–2.4 kg/bush under intensive cultivation. It is resistant to drought, heat, and winter cold, as well as being less susceptible to major diseases and pests, including phyllosticta. Lonicera 'Lyonya' is easily transported thanks to its tough skin and good fruit preservation, making it attractive to both farmers and processors.
