Emerald

Alfalfa of the Emerald variety is a perennial grass with a semi-erect bush and medium plant height two weeks after the autumn equinox. In spring, the plant is characterized by low or medium height. Leaves have a medium-intensity green color, with the central leaflet being of medium length and width. Flowers are predominantly dark blue-purple, with rare mixed, cream, white, or yellow flowers. At full bloom, the stem is short or of medium length. After the first cut, the plant height is low or medium; after the second and third cuts, it is low. The Emerald variety is distinguished by high productivity and stability. The average yield of dry matter in the Volga-Vyatka region is 69.5 ц/га, which is 4.1 ц/га higher than the average standard. The maximum yield reached 132.3 ц/га in the second year of the sward in the Perm region and 152.8 ц/га in the third year of life in the Republic of Mordovia, significantly exceeding the indicators of standard varieties. Green mass yield can reach up to 500 ц/га, seeds up to 6 ц/га, and hay up to 125-131 ц/га. Protein content in dry matter is stable at around 13.5%, and protein collection reaches 3.9 ц/га, surpassing the Vega 87 standard. Emerald has high resistance to root rots, leaf and stem diseases, as well as stress factors such as recurrent spring frosts and drought. The variety is characterized by productive longevity due to root suckering and is recommended for hay-meadow-pasture use. The flowering time of the variety is early-medium, which allows for effective use in various agro-climatic conditions of the Volga-Vyatka and Middle Volga regions.
