PAVLOVSKAYA 7

Alfalfa variety PAVLOVSKAYA 7 is a yellow alfalfa developed at the Pavlovsky experimental field of the NIISh of the Central Non-Black Earth Region. The bushes have a goblet-shaped, semi-ruined form with tender, strongly branched stems and foliation up to 60%. Plants reach a height of 80-100 cm and are characterized by a medium-late vegetative period. The variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness and resistance to flooding with floodplain waters for up to 25-30 days, allowing its use on floodplain soils and in conditions with deep groundwater tables. PAVLOVSKAYA 7 possesses high drought tolerance and increased resistance to fungal diseases and mycoplasmosis. It is capable of long-term persistence in swards from 7 to 12 years due to the ability to form root suckers, which ensures sward restoration under extreme conditions. During the growing season, the variety provides two cuts with average intensity of regrowth. Hay yield averages 80-120 c/ha, and seeds - 1-3 c/ha. Forage quality of hay and green mass is high, crude protein content reaches 16-17%. Alfalfa seeds PAVLOVSKAYA 7 have high purity (not less than 96%) and germination (not less than 75%), which ensures good germination upon sowing. The variety is recommended for field grass seeding, reclamation of sloping lands, bottoms of ravines and floodplains, as well as in the composition of pasture and hay meadow grass mixtures. Due to resistance to grazing and longevity, this variety is a reliable choice for agricultural production in the Central Non-Black Earth Region.
