Field Experience with Miscanthus «Tsvion»

When we first planted «Tsvion» from Bio Farming, our main goal was to achieve a predictable visual result with minimal intervention. As a variety of Chinese Miscanthus, it acts as a truly autonomous landscape element. From an owner's perspective, the primary benefit is its incredible hardiness. Once the root system is established, the plant requires virtually no irrigation or fertilization, which is a major advantage for large-scale landscaping.

Maintenance and Management

The main task with «Tsvion» occurs in early spring. In late March or early April, we trim the old inflorescences and stems. For an operator, this means a single day of active work with a brush cutter or trimmer. A key nuance: when planting, ensure enough space between clusters, as the variety spreads quite aggressively. Failure to limit the perimeter or maintain sufficient spacing will result in a dense wall that becomes difficult to maintain after three or four years.

• Winter Hardiness: Through years of observation, «Tsvion» has shown excellent resistance to cold. We do not cover it even in harsh winters; its own dry foliage is sufficient protection.
• Low Maintenance: The workload becomes almost zero after the first season. It is an ideal choice for landscaping projects without dedicated gardening staff.
• Disease Resistance: Throughout our time working with the Bio Farming material, we have never encountered pest or disease issues requiring chemical treatment.

Visual Impact

«Tsvion» is distinct in its structure. Fan-like plumes emerge by late summer and remain until the snow falls, maintaining aesthetic appeal even when covered in frost. For a property owner, this means the landscape remains attractive for nine months out of the year, far beyond the standard active growing season.
