Description
Oat variety Augol is a glumeless type developed through individual selection from a hybrid population obtained by crossing foreign glumeless and domestic awned oat varieties. It is recommended for cultivation in the Polissia and forest-steppe regions and belongs to medium-height varieties, registered in 2015. The variety features upright plant growth with a height of 90–95 cm and spike length of 18–19 cm, containing 55 to 70 grains. The 1000-grain weight is 24–27 g, and the natural mass is 580–600 g/l.
Augol is characterized by high crude protein (16.5%), protein (10%), and fat (4.0%) content, making it valuable for agricultural purposes. The variety is resistant to stem borers, plant diseases, and lodging, ensuring stable yields and suitability for mechanized harvesting. The yield of this variety meets the national standard of awned variety Chernigovskiy 27, and on average, it exceeds it by 0.63 t/ha over three years for grain without awns.
Due to its agronomic characteristics and resistance, oat Augol is a promising choice for farmers cultivating oats in the specified climatic zones. Its use contributes to obtaining high-quality grain with elevated nutritional content and simplifies harvesting due to mechanization.
