Description
Pea variety Gaiduk is a leafless grain variety, registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 2019 and recommended for cultivation in forest-steppe and steppe zones. This mid-maturing variety has a vegetation period of 75 to 81 days and belongs to the contecstum (linked) variety and the vulgare (common yellow-stemmed) subspecies. Plants are semi-dwarf, 55 to 77 cm tall, with 13-14 internodes to the first flower. The 1000-seed mass varies from 220 to 260 grams, and the seeds are round and yellow.
The Gaiduk variety is distinguished by high resistance to lodging and main diseases, ensuring stable yields. A key indicator is the protein content in seeds at 21-23%, making this pea valuable for grain use. The potential yield of the variety reaches 6.0 tons per hectare, with production conditions recording yields of 4.4-5.7 tons per hectare. The recommended seeding rate is 1.2 million germinating seeds per hectare.
For successful cultivation of the Gaiduk variety, timely application of insecticides against pea aphids and thrips is necessary to protect crops from pests and increase yield. Due to its characteristics and adaptability to various climatic conditions, this pea variety is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to obtain high-quality grain in forest-steppe and steppe zones of Ukraine.
