Description
The NORDMAN pea variety is an intensive industrial variety of universal purpose, suitable for both grain and grain-cutting use. It belongs to medium-maturing varieties with a vegetative period of 65-90 days and an average plant height ranging from 53 to 81 cm. The NORDMAN pea is characterized by high resistance to lodging and shattering, ensuring minimal grain losses during harvest and high technological efficiency. Seeds are round in shape with yellow cotyledons and a light hilum; the mass of 1000 seeds varies from 181 to 232 grams. Flowers are white, pods are slightly curved with a blunt tip. The variety is leafless, with a large number of nodes to the first fertile node and well-developed stipules. The NORDMAN pea exhibits enhanced drought resistance and resistance to lodging, shattering, and pod splitting, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in various climatic conditions, including the Central Black Earth and Ural regions, as well as the Orenburg region. It is less susceptible to rust and ascochytosis compared to other varieties, although it is susceptible to ascochytosis of pods and seeds and highly susceptible to root rot. Average yield of the variety in the Central Black Earth region is 25.5 c/ha, in the Ural region — 17.9 c/ha, and in the Orenburg region, the variety shows an increase over the Samarius standard by 1.8 c/ha with a yield of 11.8 c/ha. The maximum recorded yield reached 46.3 c/ha. The NORDMAN variety possesses good technological and culinary qualities, although protein content in the grain (20.3-25.7%) is slightly lower than in standard varieties. Due to high potential yield and resistance to adverse factors, this pea is a profitable choice for intensive industrial cultivation. It is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, as confirmed by its inclusion in the State Register of Breeding Achievements. The originator of the variety is LLC 'AGROLIGA SEEDS'.
