The ELIA pumpkin variety is a mid-season musk variety distinguished by its large fruit size and excellent taste qualities. The fruits have a round, short cylindrical, or oval shape with a thin, scaly rind of light brown color with a pinkish tint and a waxy coating. The pumpkin flesh is reddish-orange, thick (up to 8 cm), crunchy, juicy, and sweet, making this variety particularly suitable for processing into dietary food products. The average fruit weight is between 6 and 8 kg, while the maximum weight can reach 9 kg. The fruits are well-shippable, and the storage period of marketable quality after harvest ranges from 90 to 150 days. The plant is a vine, requiring specific space for cultivation. It is a mid-early variety, with the period from germination to the beginning of fruit ripening taking about 100-110 days. The pumpkin is well-adapted to open-ground cultivation, however, it requires thorough soil preparation and adherence to crop rotation, as the crop can be returned to the same plot no earlier than five years later. Only seeds are used for planting, which are soaked and germinated in moist sawdust for three days before sowing. The optimal temperature for germination and growth is about +30°C, while sharp temperature fluctuations negatively affect plant development. Growing ELIA pumpkins is not particularly difficult; the plant is resistant to weeds and requires minimal care throughout the season. Seeds are recommended to be planted in sunny areas, for example, on the edges of the garden or around compost heaps, to ensure sufficient lighting. Thanks to its taste qualities and versatility in cooking, this pumpkin variety is widely used for preparing various dishes, as well as for processing into dietary products.
